Dear Optima Health Broker:
All Brokers accessing www.optimahealth.com will be impacted by a new security measure. Sentara Healthcare and Optima Health are working together with Duo Security to adopt a Two-Step Login process to strengthen information security efforts. All users who access the network remotely, including physicians, clinical providers, brokers and benefit administrators will be impacted and must enroll in Two-Step Login by June 12.
You will receive an enrollment email on May 25 with a link prompting you to self-enroll with Duo. Enrollment is required in order to access the network remotely. You do not need to do anything at this time other than review the following information.
What is Two-Step Login?
Two-Step Login (also known as two-factor authentication) will impact all users who access the network remotely, including employees, providers, and others who have a business relationship with Sentara Healthcare and Optima Health. It does not impact patients or members. Two-Step Login provides an extra layer of security by requiring a user to log in with a username and password, plus a second method of verifying the user's identity. The second method is something the user has physical access to like a cell phone, smart phone, tablet, or landline. This prevents anyone but the user from logging in, even if they know the user's username and password.
Will this change how I login?
Two-Step Login with Duo will not replace or require you to change your username and password. Think of Two-Step Login as a layer of security added to your existing login method. When logging in, you will still enter your username and password. After inputting that information, you will be required to complete a method of second-factor authentication. As a reminder, two-step login will only impact you when you are logging in from outside of the network (such as from home).
Why are we implementing Two-Step Login?
According to a recent international report, 81.9% of security breaches involve compromised credentials. Two-step login provides additional assurance that data is only accessed by authorized users. Enforcing two-step login across the organization will strengthen our network security and protect the systems you access.
We appreciate your support and patience in the coming days and weeks as we continue to roll out this important safety measure.
